Nasa lost control of two satellites to Chinese hackers

11 minute is a long time in rocket science, you can change a lot of things in 11 minutes, least of which is the trajectory of a satellite, making it completely useless.

I wonder ifour atellites are at risk of being hijacked by hackers and...

If satellites can be remotely controlled by hackers, what about planes with fly by wire that are constantly communicating with their home base? can they be remotely hijacked as well?

Is NASA losing track

More satellites expected to fall and it may actually hit someone this time

The world was gripped by the Nasa UARS satellite that fell back to Earth last Saturday – and now there’s another that’s plummeting back from orbit.
In late October or early November a Germany astronomy satellite – called ROSAT- will plunge uncontrolled back to Earth.
While slightly smaller than UARS, the German satellite is expected to have more pieces survive re-entry. The German space agency estimated that it has a 1-in-2000 chance of hitting someone - higher than the 1-in-3,200 odds NASA gave for UARS.
